This wiki is… … more than just a simple Glossary … …but we do have a glossary as well and there is a link to that in the Right Hand menu. We hope to develop this section into a generalized wiki area, where anyone who has joined the site can log in and contribute and comment on the creation of commentary, definitions and all manner and forms of supporting information and metadata. We have also included a Timetable of notable 2011 Census events leading up to and following the Census, and a general Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) area. For wiki content, some things to consider may be … Metadata - Statistical, technical, and discovery metadata - all of which have holding pages in place. Also, commentary about software & technology for use in creating, distributing, and analysing Census data might also be a rich area to explore. If you have topics that you want to suggest that you think should be covered, but which you do not want to create content yourself, then use the Suggestions page to edit and list them. |

I am told by a friend that he was looking at the ONS site recently and apparently they don't do any digital boundary data any more, and you are redirected to Geoplan - http://www.geoplan.com/Mapping_Solutions/GIS_Mapping_Data/Output_Areas - whose price for the output area boundaries is £600.
Is this true, will COA boundaries be charged for?
Thanks for the enquiry. If you are referring to digital boundary files for Output Areas and other closely related areas, as detailed in the 2011 Census Product catalogue http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/product_boun_oa_mid_mif.asp then these are available from ONS Geography free of charge using the form and contact details given at http://www.ons.gov.uk/about-statistics/geography/products/boundaries/index.htm.
There are prerequisites for the supply of boundaries for other geographies as detailed on the ONS Geography website.
