2011 UK Census: NeSS-ML

This refers to the XML schemas used internally by the NeSS Data Exchange web service. For discovery calls (queries against the NeSS database for selection purposes) the term makes sense as it is bespoke for NeSS. For the delivery part (data payload) it is a misnomer as the format used is in fact generic and independent of the structure of the source database. The web service initially creates the output in NeSS-ML and then transforms it via XSLT to other formats.
