Application Programming Interface (API)


As described on Wikipedia, an Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of functions, procedures, methods, classes or protocols that an operating system, library or service provides to support requests made by computer programs.

In the context of Census 2011, a publicly-available Internet-based API will be provided to enable clients to explore and obtain statistical data.
