All the pages in the site sit in a flat file structure. This means that stictly speaking there is no absolute hierarchical structure of directories or subdirectories etc, so that any page is accessible via a base URL address
http://2011ukcensus.wikidot.com/pagename Pages in general can be linked to from any other page using the simple syntax [[[pagename]]]. You can find more information about the syntax used to create pages and links throughout the site in the syntax section. Categories
Categories are uniquely identified by their names. Each page belongs to a certain category based on its page name and category name, in the form categoryname:pagename This means that pages can be directly authored into a new category by creating a page with the category namespace. For example, a new wiki page can be entered into the wiki category by creating a page called wiki:newpagename and the page will automatically have the template, standard styles, and editing permissions associated with wiki pages. It will also appear in wiki limited 'last created' and 'last edited' summary lists, and the tag cloud restricted to just wiki pages. Throughout the site there are a number of 'new page' boxes into which you can enter a pagename to create a new page. The boxes which indicate new pages for the wiki and blog create new pages in those categories |
