Online output questionnaire results VII: Output priorities

The final question in the online output questionnaire allowed users the chance to give open answers to the question ….

Question: Finally, thinking about all aspects of 2011 Census outputs, what would you say are your top three priorities ?

After some filtering and consolidation, the responses with the highest frequency were

- Question responses: 428
Rank Priority
1 Timeliness of the outputs
2 Accuracy, quality and reliability of the data
3 (Tied) 2001/2011 comparative outputs
3 (Tied) Flexibility in outputs and geography
5 Ease of access to the data

There was only limited variation in responses across the different census user groups, with respondees identifying broadly the same top priorities, varying only in the order in which they tended to rank them.

Timeliness of output was the highest ranked priority for all census user groups with the exceptions of the Third Sector and members of the public. These two groups ranked 'Ease of access/Accessibility' higher than other census users.

Another exception was for commercial users who ranked the availability of output for download in machine readable formats as the third most important priority. This area was explored in greater detail in an earlier blog post here.
