Some online comment....

The 2011 Census white paper was presented to Parliament in December 2008. Both the white paper and this output consultation website were recently mentioned at Puffbox - a blog about e-government, online news and politics.

A number of issues raised in the blog are relevant to the output consultation, so you may want to take a look and give us your opinion and feedback. Let us know if you agree with the issues raised, or have had alternative experiences.

Setting aside the fact that the blog evaluates this site only days after launch when content was minimal, there is an encouraging view expressed about the way we are approaching modern consultation by moving to include a large (but not exclusive) online element.

Hopefully users appreciate this approach as well - our recent homepage poll indicated that 79 per cent of those that visited and voted preferred an online approach, and only 13 per cent preferred a traditional 'all paper' approach.

The Puffbox blog notes however, that even given the expanded reach offered by our online questionnaire and consultation, responses are still likely to be dominated by the 'usual suspects', so we still might not be doing enough to reach as wide an audience as possible.

What do you think? Let us know your views.
