Metadata and the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI)

Just a pointer to a thread started in the forum about the potential to use the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) as a metadata solution, and some quick links to some areas of the wiki and glossary which can be used to further develop some background and thoughts about these principles.

The thread, started by CDU_Rob introduces the idea of the DDI as a way to more closely bind metadata and data, and asks for some thoughts and feedback. Please have a look and give your views.

The wiki also has a couple of areas that have been created to begin to develop ideas and possible solutions for web dissemination and the integration of metadata and electronic data delivery systems. Please take some time to look at, for example, the dissemination schemas, which has only just been stared, and asks for user contribution.

All of the wiki pages contain information that can be added to or edited by all users, and user input will be vital to help develop the most productive and useful ideas. Users can also create new pages and sections.

If you want to join in and contribute, but are experiencing difficulties editing pages, then please contact us.

The wiki also has a few links to areas of related interest, such as the Neighbourhood Statistics data exchange Google group. If you know of or use and link to sites with relevant resources or information, then please either add them to the wiki or let us know and we will add them.
