2011 UK Census

The consultation is an important part of preparations for the Census, and is an opportunity for you, the users of Census data, to help inform and guide the shape of outputs.

The consultation is open to everyone, including members of the public.

If you are a Census user in a government department, unitary, county or district council, metropolitan borough or other large census user organisation, you should discuss your requirements internally before making a joint submission.

Getting involved
An introduction that includes user guidance to help you get involved with this stage of consultation is available to download in Word and PDF format.

The guidance refers to documents which contain all the information about the tables and variables being considered in the consultation, and these are also available to download:

• Table of Tables including Geographies and Variables Calculations (Excel file)
• Mock Tables (Zipped, Excel file)
• Feedback Workbook (Excel file)

Th consultation is designed primarily for online and email distribution and feedback. Some parts are printable, but some worksheets are not. Where a particular section has not been designed for printing, it is noted in the User Guidance in Section 2, Consultation Documentation.

To submit your feedback, please email the completed Feedback Workbook to ku.vog.isg.sno|noitalusnoCtuptuOsusneC#ku.vog.isg.sno|noitalusnoCtuptuOsusneC by Friday 26 March 2010.

Further consultation
We will use the feedback you submit to produce a second set of specifications for further consultation in Autumn 2010. After this, an agreed set of specifications for the main outputs from the 2011 Census will be issued in Winter 2010.

Other consultations that concentrate on outputs based on alternative population data will also take place through 2010.

There will also be regular updates about any developments that will affect census output, including disclosure control, dissemination methods, microdata access arrangements and funding and licensing issues.
