Welcome to our blog - a place to read and voice opinions about the plans for output from the 2011 Census. Here we will regularly raise topics to prompt comments and start conversation. These will cover issues such as Access, Dissemination, Metadata, and User Support.
Many issues will be prompted by the results on the online user survey which was run in the fist half of 2008. We will publish the full survey results on the website soon, and follow these up with themed discusiion topics. We hope you will join in and contribute your thoughts about the topics discussed by adding replies and comments to each post. We also hope you will take the oipportunity to engage with other users in more detailed discussions using the forum. Online output questionnaire results III: Adding valueby The core output from the 2001 Census was based around a range of product families containing standard predefined data sets. These were supplemented by a number of complementary releases to either support their use, add value to high volume datasets, or provide slices of user friendly data for a wider audience and with limited commentary. Comments (0) Developing web delivery systemsby Census Outputs are in the early stages of research and development work to discover, design and plan for the future census data delivery systems via the web. This work is set in the context of on online environment that has changed considerably since the last Census, and changed rapidly even in the last two years. Comments (1) Printed products - some thoughts and questionsby Now that we have started to post further results from the user survey we can start to open up some free form discussion on more specific issues that are highllighted by the data. Open ended feedback and discussion should help to provide more information than just the numbers collated from the closed form survey responses. We posted some initial results in an earlier post, and this is the first is a series of themed posts covering analysis of the results in more detail. Comments (1) User personas - a brief introductionby To help in the analysis and interpretation of the output consultation data collected, part of the process will involve user personas.
