About

This site is supported by the three UK Census Offices (ONS, GROS, and NISRA) and is being evaluated by the Hansard Society as part of its Digital Dialogues pilot into online forms of engagement.

Users of census data were invited to have their say on high level output issues via an online survey which ran for 12 weeks and closed 19 May. Responses were received from over 500 people or represented groups. Following analysis of the responses, initial and more detailed findings will be gradually added to the website in order to further stimulate dialogue between and feedback from users.

The blog will remain in place to allow further discussion of themes raised in the survey and for users to raise other output issues they consider to be important. It is open for comment by all site visitors. Your contributions will help us understand the requirements for output and how best to use our resources to try and meet them.

The wiki style metadata store will also remain in place to allow a small team of expert users of Census data to test a collaborative approach to developing a prototype online metadata store. Visit the wiki to see the prototype develop over time.

The UK Census Offices are using this pilot to find out whether online engagement is useful for long term dialogue with data users. To this end, the Hansard Society will survey participants and site visitors as part of its evaluation, both at the beginning and end of the pilot.
